9 tips for beating Influenza A + B

How to not get sick? A proactive approach can make all the difference when influenza is doing the rounds.

1 Eat loads of citrus fruit such as lemons, oranges and mandarins which are currently in season

2 Warming lemon tonic -Make yourself this hot lemon drink (potion)

1 lemon; 3 cinnamon sticks; 1 knob of ginger;
cloves and chilli (optional);
3 cups of water; and honey to taste.
Method: Bring to the boil and simmer on stove to infuse.

3 Get more rest-get boring and go to bed early. A couple of good nights’ sleep can help your immune system work so much better

4 Epsom salt baths. The kids have baths, you should too. A 20 minute bath is possible

5 Nutrition supplements- Have a look at what you have at home and dose yourself up on:

  • Zinc
  • Olive leaf extract
  • Echinacea
  • Multivitamins
  • Vitamin C
  • Probiotic or digestive enzymes
  • Magnesium

6 Have some soup– not only providing important minerals and vitamins soup is easy to digest, thus providing you with instant building blocks for your body to maintain wellbeing. Try vegetable soup, pumpkin soup, pea soup, chicken soup. Add in some extra chilli, garlic, ginger or turmeric. Avoid mucous forming foods and drinks that contain dairy.

7 Look after your physical body.

8 Drink at least 2 litres of water per day- if you’re in a state of dehydration and not drinking enough water it’s really hard for your body biochemically, and warding off pathogens is more challenging.

9 And finally, slow down and put the things and people that mater most in life first.
